Cadillac Racing is set to make a strong return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans this June, fielding four Cadillac V-Series.R racecars in pursuit of the prestigious Hypercar class victory. This marks Cadillac’s third consecutive year competing in the top category at Le Mans and commemorates 75 years since the brand’s first appearance at Circuit de la Sarthe.
“We’re thrilled to have Cadillac Racing return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with four cars competing for the overall win in the Hypercar class,” said John Roth, vice president of Global Cadillac. “After securing a podium finish in 2023 and a top-10 result last year, we’re eager to build on that success and showcase the Cadillac V-Series.R’s technology, performance, and innovation.”
The four Cadillac entries will be supported by experienced teams and championship-winning drivers:
- Nos. 12 and 38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R – These entries received automatic invitations due to full-season participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Jenson Button, Earl Bamber, Sebastien Bourdais, Alex Lynn, Norman Nato, and Will Stevens will take the wheel for JOTA Sport, which is competing in its first WEC Hypercar season as a works team.
- No. 101 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R – A full-season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competitor in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class, this car will make its Le Mans debut. Ricky Taylor is listed as the primary driver, with the rest of the lineup to be announced.
- No. 311 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R – A returning IMSA GTP entry from Action Express Racing, this car will compete at Le Mans for the third consecutive year. Jack Aitken is the primary driver, with additional teammates to be revealed later.
Cadillac has demonstrated strong results in its recent Le Mans campaigns. In 2023, the brand secured a third-place finish, and in 2024, Cadillac Hypercars qualified second and third, with a best race finish of seventh. Meanwhile, JOTA Sport has a storied history at Le Mans, having earned 10 podiums in LMP2, including second- and third-place finishes in 2017, before stepping into Hypercar competition in 2023.
At the heart of the Cadillac V-Series.R is a 5.5L DOHC V-8 engine, developed by GM’s Performance and Racing Propulsion team in Pontiac, Michigan. Co-developed with Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing, and chassis constructor Dallara, the racecar incorporates signature Cadillac elements, including vertical lighting and floating blade aerodynamics. The V-Series.R draws inspiration from the Project GTP Hypercar, which was unveiled in 2022.
As Cadillac Racing returns to the world’s most demanding endurance race, all eyes will be on the V-Series.R to continue the brand’s legacy of power, precision, and performance on the global stage.
