MyCoworks Collaboration

Cadillac, renowned for its pioneering spirit in automotive innovation, is teaming up with MycoWorks to create a new class of material designed for high-performance automotive interiors. This groundbreaking material, which aims to match the versatility of leather, is made from mycelium—the renewable root structure of mushrooms—and other bio-based ingredients.

Using MycoWorks’ Fine Mycelium™ technology, this innovative material holds the potential to uphold Cadillac’s signature high-end aesthetic while incorporating renewable resources. The ultimate goal for Fine Mycelium™ is to offer superior strength, potential weight reduction, and improved efficiency, all while meeting the highest quality standards.

As a part of this collaboration, Cadillac has designed a cardholder accessory to showcase the versatility and elegance of this new material.

“The Fine Mycelium™ material exemplifies revolutionary resources and collaborations that are paving the way for an innovative design future,” said Hannah Dunbar, industrial designer at Cadillac. “Working with this material and understanding its unique properties will help create beautiful texture options that could impact future automotive interior applications.”

This venture marks a first for the automotive industry, highlighting Cadillac’s commitment to forward-thinking design and technological advancements. The initial demonstration features materials in an iridescent finish and a soft hue color palette, aligning with Cadillac’s bold and sophisticated design aesthetic.

Cadillac’s color, materials, and finishes design team is actively exploring further applications for this revolutionary material and is enthusiastic about the future possibilities. This collaboration underscores Cadillac’s dedication to integrating innovative materials and resources, setting a new standard for automotive interior design.
